Northwest Catholic musicians, guided by Band Director Ray Sinclair, made school history on Mar. 13 by bringing home the highest award ever from the Berklee Jazz Festival in Boston, MA.

The Thursday Night Jazz Band placed third in Division V, which featured schools from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, Vermont, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Los Angeles, CA.  This is the best award any NWC jazz ensemble has ever won at Berklee; in 2008, this group had gotten "honorable mention."

Dillon Bowen '11, John Fitzpatrick '11, and Jordan Greenberg '11 earned Judges' Choice soloist awards. Greenberg was also recognized individually during the Festival's final awards ceremony as an outstanding soloist on acoustic bass in the Thursday Night Jazz Band.

A bonus of the third-place finish is that three NWC students will now receive partial scholarships to the Berklee Summer Jazz Camp.
