Ninety-eight brand-new voters from NWC were eligible to vote in this week’s Presidential primary, thanks to an on-campus voter registration drive on Mar. 27.
West Hartford Republican Registrar Eleanor Brazell conducted the drive, which was organized by Social Studies Department chair Paul Fitzpatrick and promoted by students in AP US Government and AP US History classes.
To register, students had to be 18 by Nov. 6, 2012, and needed to produce a driver's license or a picture ID and Social Security number. However, all newly registered voters were entitled to vote in the primary, even if they were still 17 years old.
“We are very pleased to work with the West Hartford Registrars,” said NWC Principal/Chief Administrator Margaret Williamson. “They are very helpful guiding all of our students through this important part of growing up.”
