The Hartford Courant named 18 NWC student-athletes to its All-Courant teams for Spring ’12 – including two who were honored as the Players of the Year for their respective sports.
This winter was believed to be the first time in school history that two NWC athletes were named Players of the Year in the same season (Sarah Gillespie ’13 – Girls Indoor Track, Kuran Iverson ’13 – Boy’s Basketball) until the Spring ’12 season came around. Brian Butler ’12 (Boys’ Golf) and Aaron Wilson ’12 (Baseball) were named the Players of the Year and ended this historic 50th Anniversary year as the 4th and 5th Northwest student athletes to be named to this honor. In addition to these four athletes, Brian Poirier ’12 (Boys’ Cross Country) was our first Player of the Year recipient of the 2011-2012 year.
