The Guidance Office is home to a great deal of information about colleges and the college application process. Students visit the office routinely to peruse college catalogues and viewbooks, SAT and ACT preparation materials, and brochures and other information about financial aid, merit scholarships, and college athletics, among many other topics. Computers with internet access are available for student use.

 

ACT

Register for the ACT, research colleges and apply online.

Campus Tours

Campus Tours offers virtual tours and snapshots of information about more than 800 U.S. colleges and universities.

Catholic College Admission Association

The National Catholic College Admission Association is a non-profit organization of Catholic colleges and universities committed to promoting the value of Catholic higher education and serving students in the transition to college.

College Board

Register for the SAT, research and apply to colleges, research financial aid, and register for the CSS/profile, a financial aid form required by some colleges.

CollegeNET

A college search service and scholarship database with more than 500,000 listings.

CollegeView

CollegeView offers virtual tours and handy information about more than 3,500 colleges and universities. Students can search for colleges that match their interests using criteria such as location, size, majors, and athletics.

Common Application

Here you will find the "Common Application," which many schools use exclusively or in addition to supplemental applications of their own.

Connecticut Department of Higher Education

The Connecticut Department of Higher Education provides information on state scholarships and grants, as well as many other state programs for college-bound students.

Electronic Financial Aid Library

The Electronic Financial Aid Library is a series of "infobases" with Student Financial Assistance documents from the U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services.

Fair/Test

A list of college and universities that do not require the SAT (click on "University Testing" and then choose "List of Schools").

FAFSA

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), required by most schools for financial aid consideration.

FastWeb

Called the "internet's largest free scholarship search" service, this site includes more than 275,000 listings.

The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators' site includes links to many other sites, including scam alerts (on bogus scholarship companies), reference lists, scholarship databases, and cost calculators.

Hartford Foundation for Public Giving

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has a directory of more than 100 scholarships available to college-bound students in the Greater Hartford region.
