About Us
Northwest Catholic, a coed college-prep high school in West Hartford, CT, was established in 1961 by the Archdiocese of Hartford to provide quality Catholic education and to prepare young women and men to be leaders in their communities, the Church, and the world. We are committed to academic excellence, personal attention, and the development of faith and moral values.
We have about 650 students in grades 9-12 who come from 40 different towns throughout the Greater Hartford region. We are extremely proud of our diversity -- about 79% of the students are Roman Catholic, and about 23% are students of color -- believing that it is one of the most important components of our rich educational experience.
Our rigorous college-prep curriculum features 14 Advanced Placement courses and a wide array of honors-level classes. Among the 132 graduates in the Class of 2009, 98% are continuing their education after graduation. Details about our curriculum, grading, student performance on standardized exams (including the SATs), and college acceptances are available in our School Profile.
Northwest Catholic High School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (the last reaccreditation was in 2001) and the Connecticut State Department of Education. It has been cited as a National School of Excellence.
