Welcome to the Northwest Catholic High School Fine & Performing Arts Department. We offer a full program with academic courses in each of the five main arts disciplines: Studio Art, Instrumental Music, Choral Music, Dance and Theater. Our students have the opportunity to take classes in each discipline during the academic day, as well as participate in a variety of extracurricular arts-related activities after school and in the evening.
Our academic program includes Advanced Placement classes in Studio Art and Music Theory, studio classes, award-winning performance ensembles, individual music lessons, music theory, and dance and acting. Our curriculum has a strong educational foundation in history, criticism, and theory, which is enhanced and demonstrated through performance and studio production.
The Fine & Performing Arts Department showcases the hard work and exceptional talent of our students in two theatrical productions, two formal art shows, two dance recitals, and two choral and instrumental music concerts. Our students are also involved in numerous community performances and events and travel throughout the country for prestigious adjudications and festivals.
Extracurricular activities include service clubs, such as Empty Bowls and Unified Theater, an award-winning Visual Art & Literary magazine, The Writer, and activities that support our community, such as the Dramateurs, Pep Club, and the Art & Anime clubs. The Dyber Art Studio and music rooms are open for students to work and rehearse during school and after school.
We are very proud of the dedication of our students to the arts. Our program not only builds life-long appreciation for the arts, but prepares our students for admission into high-level arts schools and universities, such as the Berklee College of Music, the New England Conservatory, the Pratt Institute, New York University, the Rhode Island School of Design, and Savannah College of Art and Design.
