Admissions Process

Northwest Catholic has a personalized, friendly Admissions process. Our goal is to help prospective students and their families discover "the school where they know that they belong."

The Admissions process at Northwest Catholic begins each year in October with an Open House at the school. This year it will be on Sunday, October 28 from 1-3 pm.

Applicants to Grades 9 must take the High School Placement Test (HSPT). Students should click here to submit an application and their application fee of $25. This test is also given at other Catholic high schools in the area; however, only incoming 9th-grade students who take the November exam at NWC will be considered for academic scholarships.

Students applying as transfers to grades 10 and 11 must submit an online application, official transcripts, and a letter of recommendation (the form for the recommendation is on the application). Once a file is complete, students may be asked to come in for an interview with our Academic Dean.

In early November, a link to Smart Aid will be available on the NWC website. The deadline for families to submit their tuition assistance application is December 31.

Admissions decisions will be mailed by January 31 to all applicants who have a completed admissions file (application, transcripts with 1st quarter or trimester of the current school year and grades 6 and 7, standardized tests, teacher recommendation) by December 17. Applicants who complete their admission file after December 17 will receive their decision letter on a rolling basis. Tuition assistance awards will be mailed in early March. Beginning in February, accepted students will meet with NWC Admissions staff or school administrators for course selection. Placement tests in Algebra, Spanish and French for students currently enrolled in these courses in middle school will take place in June.

A completed file consists of: first quarter or trimester report card from the current school year, transcripts from the previous 2 years (6 & 7), standardized tests, recommendation form (available through the application), and a completed entrance exam. Students who have a 504 plan, ICEP, or IEP must submit this documentation prior to the entrance exam.
