Theater

The theater program at Northwest Catholic is thriving, both in acting class and in the productions of the Northwest Catholic Dramateurs. The Dramateurs put on two productions each year: a full-length play in the fall and a spring musical. All roles are open to all students, by audition, and there are numerous opportunities for students to participate both on-stage as a performer and behind the scenes as crew members – working on the set, lights, props, costumes and more.

Recent musicals include Barnum, Singin’ in the Rain, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, 42nd Street, Little Shop of HorrorsOnce on This Island, and last year’s production The Little Mermaid. Recent plays include The Good DoctorAnne of Green Gables, MetamorphosesFools, The Importance of Being Earnest, A Christmas Carol: Scrooge and Marley, Rumors, and The Ash Girl.

Many students also get involved in the Unified Theater program – a partnership with the Intensive Educational Academy in West Hartford. The combined group puts on a student-written and student-directed performance each year.
