Northwest Catholic firmly believes that parents are the first and most important educators of their children. Thus, we seek a partnership with parents in our mission to educate the minds, bodies, spirits, and souls of their teenagers, and we encourage parents to take an active role in this effort.
The school communicates frequently with parents via e-mail and snail mail messages; via Parent Press, the principal's newsletter; and via Edline, our companion web site.
Parents can become involved in the Northwest Catholic community in several ways. The Parents' Club, composed of parents from all grade levels, meets regularly with the principal to plan activities. It also hosts regular meetings featuring informative speakers and the opportunity for socializing, which parents are encouraged to attend. The Parents' Club also hosts the Principal's Reception in May for incoming students; a Teacher Appreciation lunch during Catholic Schools Week in January; and a major fundraiser called Saturday Night Live in November. Parents also assist with a variety of recruitment and advancement activities, especially phonathons and the annual golf tournament; contact Jane Leary to volunteer.
A sports booster club called the Tomahawk Club actively supports the school's athletic programs by selling refreshments and Northwest Catholic-logoed merchandise at athletic competitions throughout the year. The Northwest Catholic Music Boosters support the instrumental music programs. Parents -- along with alumni and community leaders -- also participate on the School Board.
Parents who participate in school life reap the benefits of friendship and camaraderie of other parents while supporting the efforts of the students. Northwest Catholic is "the school where you know you belong," and that includes parents!
