STEP FOUR: Placement Exam

All prospective 8th grade students interested in attending NWC in the fall must complete a Northwest Catholic Placement Exam as part of the application process.

Registration for this exam is located in the "Next Steps" tab within the application. If you have filled out an Inquiry Form and are in our database, you will receive emails regularly from the Admissions Team with a link to register. If you have not filled out an Inquiry Form, please do so here

The Northwest Catholic Placement Exam has been developed by our English and Math department faculty to best measure basic verbal and quantitative skills in reading comprehension, language, and math.  Results are used to guide appropriate academic course selection for all incoming freshmen.

  • The exam takes approximately 2 hours and is broken up into sections with breaks in between.
  • #2 pencils will be provided.
  • Students may bring a personal water bottle.
  • Phones will be collected in designated holding stations for the duration of the test.
  • Calculators are not permitted.

Our group exam dates for Fall 2026 admission have passed. Please contact the Admissions Office to schedule your individual Placement Exam: [email protected].

STEP FIVE: Shadow Day or Interview

During your Lion for a Day Shadow Experience, students will have a short conversation with a faculty member and upperclassman. This helps us get to know prospective students better and answer any questions you have. If you are unable to come to campus for a Shadow Day, the Admissions Team will reach out to schedule an interview after the application is submitted.
